WAEC Officially Released 2025 BECE Provisional Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates. This marks a major milestone for thousands of Junior High School (JHS) students across the country who sat for the exams earlier this year.

Candidates can check their results online via the Council’s official website, www.waecgh.org, or collect them from their respective schools through their Metropolitan, Municipal, or District Education Directors.

Key Statistics for BECE 2025

  • Total candidates: 603,328

  • Males: 297,250

  • Females: 306,078

  • Participating schools: 20,395

  • Special needs candidates:

    • 72 visually impaired

This year’s BECE saw more female candidates than males, and WAEC continues to make room for students with special needs.

Examination Malpractices

As with every major exam, there were cases of irregularities. After investigations, WAEC’s Final Awards and Examiners’ Committee took the following actions:

  • Subject results cancelled: 718 candidates

  • Entire results cancelled: 177 candidates

  • Subject results withheld: 1,240 candidates

  • Entire results withheld: 93 candidates

Additionally, subject results from 119 schools were cancelled, and those from 87 schools were withheld for further review. Final decisions on the withheld results will be announced by September 6, 2025.

Candidates affected can check the status of their results at https://ireg.waec.org or by clicking the withheld/cancelled button on the WAEC results portal.

WAEC’s Caution to Candidates

WAEC has once again warned candidates and parents to be careful of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. The Council emphasizes that its results are secure, authentic, and cannot be changed by anyone.

The council also likes to express gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Security Agencies, Heads of Schools, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners, and all stakeholders who contributed to the smooth conduct of the 2025 BECE.

Conclusion

The release of the 2025 BECE results is a big moment for students, parents, and teachers alike. For candidates, this is just the beginning of your educational journey as you transition to senior high school. If you sat for the exam, we wish you the very best in checking your results and moving on to the next stage of your academic life.
